INSURGENT -- CHAPTER 40
Tris and Christina have met up with the Erudites at the Amity headquarters. There, they discuss what they hope to accomplish when infiltrating the Erudite headquarters. Cara serves as the leader of the Erudite group and she coaxes others to chip in on the plan. The Erudites discuss how there’s a data network connecting all the factions to the Erudite’s headquarters. All they need to do is find the secret information and send it via the network to the other factions. Some of the Erudites will even join Tris and Christina on this quest. These Erudite traitors have already turned their back on their faction, so defecting to this degree is nothing too big.
The Erudite traitors even share some inventions that they hope Tris, Christina, and the Amity can use. Firstly, they have a sound device that resonates a high-pitched sound that breaks windows. Secondly, they have created stun-guns. These inventions are aimed at peacefully stopping people.
Before long, people have gathered to head into the city. A caravan of trucks are prepared to leave. The trucks house Amity and some Abnegation. Tris sits in the back of a truck with Fernando, an Erudite, while Christina rides in the front. They head towards a quiet city.
Tris questions Fernando about Caleb during their truck trip. Fernando knew Caleb. He recalls Caleb as a person willing to do and believe anything Jeanine told him. Tris keeps it hidden that Caleb is her brother.
