INSURGENT -- CHAPTER 25
The Dauntless have a good, warm meal that evening. Uriah even somehow is able to get cake. Zeke, Lynn, Marlene, Hector, and Christina join Tris and Uriah at the table. Marlene and Uriah seem to have a romance going. Lynn, annoyingly, challenges the two to kiss already. Marlene does so and continues to do so as Lynn storms away from the table.
Tobias comes to grab Tris. He plans to take her to a meeting via train. Tris isn’t sure where they’re going, but she follows willingly.
On the train the two talk about Tobias’ fear landscape. He tried it again and his father is still in it, but with a slight alteration. Also new to his landscape is Tris’ death.
The train moves along and two old acquaintances hop in, Evelyn and Edward. Tobias wants to team up with the factionless. Evelyn is okay with teaming up just as long as they share power after the Erudites are gone and as long as they get rid of all Erudite knowledge afterwards. Tris chimes in and says they should also agree to kill Jeanine.
Before they leave Evelyn tells Tobias that they should meet again in Abnegation territory next week. She also reveals that when Tobias was young she did not leave Abnegation on her own accord; instead, she was exiled by Marcus. This is new news to Tobias.
After Evelyn and Edward leave Tris and Tobias argue. Tobias believes that this alliance is the Dauntless’ only option. Tris, on the other hand, believes that Evelyn has a hidden agenda.
