DIVERGENT -- CHAPTER 14
Visiting Day is one day away. Tris isn’t sure if her parents will be there to see her. She begins the day with thoughts of them.
Then, she moves onto a shower. After her shower, she realizes her old pants aren’t fitting because of the muscle that she’s gained. She walks back to her dorm to change only to find Peter, Molly, Drew, and a few others there. Tris, at first, heads to her bed area to grab a dress she had purchased with Christina. After grabbing the dress she realizes that Peter and the others are going to taunt her. She scrambles for the door. Peter snatches her towel, she covers herself with the dress, and runs to the bathroom to change.
Later, she makes her way to the Pit to grab better fighting clothes. Today, the initiates will fight each other again and she can only hope that she’ll be up against Peter so that she can avenge herself against him.
In the fighting room, the list of contenders is eventually written on the chalkboard. The following fights will occur: Will versus Mayra; Peter versus Edward; Christina versus Al; and Tris versus Molly.
Will and Mayra engage in a weak, boring fight. Al quickly and purposely loses to Christina. Next, Edward fights smarter than Peter.
Eventually, Tris is up against Molly. Molly is powerful, however, Tris is fast. They both take their share of hits while Tris tries to find Molly’s weakness. Banking off of Four’s advice, Tris uses her elbow to help her in the fight. Before long, Tris finds that one of Molly’s weaknesses is leaving her stomach exposed. With a hit to the stomach and a kick to the legs, Molly is on the ground.
Tris lets the now defenseless Molly have it. Molly cowers on the ground, taking hits from Tris. Four, eventually, intervenes and puts an end to Tris’ savagery. Tris knows she should feel remorseful, however, she does not.
