With a shake of President Snow’s head, Katniss is convinced that he is not a happy camper. She is relieved, however, at the fact that she no longer has to convince the president of the “love” between herself and Peeta. President Snow, who always seems to know how to shake things up, ups Katniss’ pressure by suggesting that the newly engaged couple should get married in the Capitol.
That night, there is a dinner at President Snow’s mansion. The amazing food is enough to give Katniss an appetite. She begins by feasting in the array of soups.
Her prep team approaches Peeta and Katniss, and they suggest that the two drink a liquid that’s provided in fancy glasses. Apparently, the drink is aimed at forcing people to throw up so they can free up room and feast some more on the great food. Peeta politely rejects the drink and asks Katniss to dance.
During their dance, Peeta admits that perhaps they should have let the districts rebel without trying to convince them otherwise during the Victory Tour. Luckily, nobody seems to have heard Peeta’s thoughts.
Their dance is interrupted when Portia brings the new Head Gamemaker on over to dance with Katniss. His name is Plutarch Heavensbee. Plutarch admits that he took the job since many other people didn’t want to take it. His dance with Katniss is cut short after he checks his unique pocket-watch for the time. The watch has a mockingjay picture on it, and Katniss cannot help but remark on it. Plutarch takes off to go to a secret meeting that starts at midnight and Katniss is left to wonder why Plutarch showed the watch to her.
Katniss finds Peeta talking to bakers about frosting and cake. Before long, Effie comes by to make sure that Katniss and Peeta stay on schedule. They have to start saying their goodbyes before making it back to train on time. Next, they’ll be going back to District Twelve where the Victory Tour will conclude with the Harvest Festival.
In the train, Katniss awakes to find Peeta next to her. They speak of a dream she had in which she encountered a mockingjay with Rue’s voice. They go on to comment on Peeta’s nightmares. Peeta has nightmares but nobody would ever know because he doesn’t scream out or cry when he awakes from them.
Back at home, the festivities will occur at the mayor’s house. There, Katniss will be able to see Mayor Undersee’s daughter, Madge. The two are friends and have spent much time together after the Hunger Games.
Katniss is prepped for the Harvest Festival and she has a bit of time to waste, so she looks around for Madge at the mayor’s house. She chances upon a screen in the mayor’s room that is showing an uprising that is occurring in District Eight. People are rebelling in the streets.
